A bit about me:
It is always "ABOUT US"

Gladys was born in Alberta, Canada but moved to the United States when she was a year and a half. They lived in eastern South Dakota where her daddy was a farmer. Most important my family life centered around the church. It is through my mother and the church I came to know the Lord Jesus Christ as my personal Savior and was born again into God's family. My church family sent me and paid my way to go to Pillsbury Baptist Bible College where I met my husband.

Dean's father was in the military so Dean was born in 29 Palms, California From California they moved to Kentucky and Florida. When his dad got out of the military Mr. Beaty became a pastor and they lived in Indiana, Kansas, Iowa, South Dakota and Illinois. Dean accepted Christ as Savior at a very early age. He started singing in church when he was 4 years old. He sang the melody and his mother sang harmony. He says, "My love for music stems from constant church attendance and singing special music by age five. My first real recollection of poetry was in the 6th grade when we studied Joyce Kilmer’s, “Trees” which I still know. The teacher gave us an assignment to write a short poem. To my surprise my dad was called to the school and I was accused of plagiarism. I was too young to even know what that was but my poem must have been good enough for the teacher to think I had copied it."
Later He went to the academy at Bob Jones University in Greenville, S.C. He had a car accident which caused him to transfered to Pillsbury Baptist Bible College where he met and married Gladys. Dean finished college in Texas and became assistant pastor in Oak Lawn, Illinois. He later pastored several small churches in Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois and Indiana. After 25 years of pastoring we left to work in children's homes in North & South Carolina. We are retired and make our home in Mauldin, SC. We have been married 43 years.

When Dean retired he started writing songs and poetry. Our Son-in-law Kurt helped Dean arrange the music so he could perform his songs in church. When he had his stroke in March 11, 2007 he became disabled and lost alot of who he was. He is no longer able to sing. Writing poems has really given Dean renewed purpose to his life.

Ducks and Eagles: How well do you serve your customers?

Subject: FW: DUCKS or EAGLES?

No one can make you serve customers well.
That's because great service is a choice.

Harvey Mackay, tells a wonderful story about a cab driver that proved this point.

He was waiting in line for a ride at the airport. When a cab pulled up, the first thing Harvey noticed was that the taxi was polished to a bright shine. Smartly dressed in a white shirt, black tie, and freshly pressed black slacks, the cab driver jumped out and rounded the car to open the back passenger door for Harvey . He handed my friend a laminated card and said: 'I'm Wally, your driver. While I'm loading your bags in the trunk I'd like you to read my mission statement. Taken aback, Harvey read the card. It said: Wally's Mission Statement:
To get my customers to their destination in the quickest, safest and cheapest way possible in a friendly environment. This blew Harvey away... Especially when he noticed that the inside of the cab matched the outside.. Spotlessly clean. As he slid behind the wheel, Wally said, 'Would you like a cup of coffee? I have a thermos of regular and one of decaf.' My friend said jokingly, 'No, I'd prefer a soft drink.' Wally smiled and said, 'No problem. I have a cooler up front with regular and Diet Coke, water and orange juice.' Almost stuttering, Harvey said, 'I'll take a Diet Coke.' Handing him his drink, Wally said, 'If you'd like something to read, I have The Wall Street Journal, Time, Sports Illustrated and USA Today.'
As they were pulling away, Wally handed my friend another laminated card, 'These are the stations I get and the music they play, if you'd like to listen to the radio.'
And as if that weren't enough, Wally told Harvey that he had the air conditioning on and asked if the temperature was comfortable for him. Then he advised Harvey of the best route to his destination for that time of day. He also let him know that he'd be happy to chat and tell him about some of the sights or, if Harvey preferred, to leave him with his own thoughts. 'Tell me, Wally,' my amazed friend asked the driver, 'have you always served customers like this?'
Wally smiled into the rear view mirror. “No, not always. In fact, it's only been in the last two years. My first five years driving, I spent most of my time complaining like all the rest of the cabbies do... Then I heard the personal growth guru, Wayne Dyer, on the radio one day.
He had just written a book called “You'll See It When You Believe It”. Dyer said that if you get up in the morning expecting to have a bad day, you'll rarely disappoint yourself. He said, 'Stop complaining! Differentiate yourself from your competition. Don't be a duck. Be an eagle. Ducks quack and complain. Eagles soar above the crowd.''
'That hit me right between the eyes,' said Wally. 'Dyer was really talking about me. I was always quacking and complaining, so I decided to change my attitude and become an eagle. I looked around at the other cabs and their drivers. The cabs were dirty, the drivers were unfriendly, and the customers were unhappy. So I decided to make some changes. I put in a few at a time. When my customers responded well, I did more. 'I take it that has paid off for you,' Harvey said, 'It sure has,' Wally replied. 'My first year as an eagle, I doubled my income from the previous year. This year I'll probably quadruple it.
You were lucky to get me today. I don't sit at cabstands anymore. My customers call me for appointments on my cell phone or leave a message on my answering machine. If I can't pick them up myself, I get a reliable cabbie friend to do it and I take a piece of the action.'
Wally was phenomenal. He was running a limo service out of a Yellow Cab. I've probably told that story to more than fifty cab drivers over the years, and only two took the idea and ran with it. Whenever I go to their cities, I give them a call. The rest of the drivers quacked like ducks and told me all the reasons they couldn't do any of what I was suggesting. Wally the Cab Driver made a different choice. He decided to stop quacking like ducks and start soaring like eagles.

How about us?

Smile, and the whole world smiles with you... The ball is in our hands!

A man reaps what he sows. Let us not become weary in well doing for we shall reap if we faint not.

Ducks Quack, Eagles Soar

God's Call to Service

God's Call to Service By Rev. Dean Beaty 2/24/10 Genesis 24:27 “Blessed be the LORD God of my master Abraham, who hath not left destitute my master of his mercy and his truth: I being in the way, the LORD led me...” (Abraham's servant) (KJV) I saw no light from heaven that knocked me to the ground. (as with Paul) I heard no voice at mid-night while I was sleeping sound. (as with Samuel) I didn't ride a whale that turned my path around. (as with Jonah) I didn't see a burning bush that left me qu… Continue

The Gift of God's Love

The Gift of God's Love By Rev. Dean Beaty 2/24/10 John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (KJV) Why would God send His Son to die For wayward sinners such as I? And then to think God knew back then, That most would choose to live in sin. They stripped the Son of God in shame And then they mocked His Holy Name. They spit upon the face of God And claimed He was a lying fraud. They s… Continue

Jesus: Truth or Liar?

Jesus: Truth or Liar? By Rev. Dean Beaty 2/15/10 John 14:6 “Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (KJV) Either Jesus told the truth or else He was a liar. He told of a place called hell, of it's torments and it's fire.* You cannot have it both ways; Jesus the Christ or a fraud. Either He was a sinner or as He said, “The Son of God.” Look closely at what He said, for you must make up your mind. Only a fool goes through life willi… Continue

The Value of Salvation

The Value of Salvation By Rev. Dean Beaty 2/16/10 Psalm 96:6-9 “Honour and majesty are before him: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary. Give unto the LORD, O ye kindreds of the people, give unto the LORD glory and strength. Give unto the LORD the glory due unto his name: bring an offering, and come into his courts. O worship the LORD in the beauty of holiness: fear before him, all the earth.” (KJV) If God can make the universe with timing that's exact, Then He can meet my every need when I… Continue

I Peter Christians

I Peter Christians By Rev. Dean Beaty 1/17/10 I Peter 1:5-7 “Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honor and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ:” (KJV) It's a hard time for… Continue

My Favorite Christmas Song “(Oh Holy Night) brings back memories of Dean singing it every Christmas season! But Jesus was "Born to Die" to take our sins away so we could one day enter heaven to be with our Savior Jesus Christ. Jesus proved He is God by coming back to life and returning to heaven where He is waiting for His bride. Could this really be for us who know have trusted Him as our Savior? The Angel Gabriel said of Mary, "Hail thou highly favored of God" Did you
realize that same term is used of us in Ephesians 1:6. "To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved."
Our pastor said twice in that verse the Greek says how highly favored we are. Think on this and it will give you a great deal to rejoice in.

DEAN AND GLADYS BEATY AFTER 45 YEARS
By Dean Beaty your adoring husband 8/15/09

The greatest joy and treasure that has come into my life.
Is when I met my sweetheart and took you for my wife.
Now forty-five years later I love you now as then.
If I had the chance once more, I would do it all again.

It doesn’t mean that marriage is smooth as velveteen.
But it really helps a lot when you make your wife your queen.
The years have passed so swiftly, it seems like yesterday,
That we married in Dakota and started on life’s way.

Forty-five years of memories could fill a giant book.
I’m glad when I purposed you didn’t take a second look.
It’s too late to start all over, so I figure I have won.
God tied a sailor’s knot when He made us into one.

Time has changed our figures and the color of our hair.
But I never have to worry if tomorrow you’ll be there.
Your loyalty is matchless and of course it has to be,
To last for forty-five years with a rotten egg like me.

That’s why all my devotion belongs to you alone.
With all my heart I love you and I’m thankful you’re my own.
Forty-five years from now we’ll enjoy eternity.
For nothing in this world will take your love from me.

I wanted to praise the Lord for his goodness. Dean had a
stroke March of 2007. We have been living on disability. When I turned 62 and was able to get my Social Security I applied and was turned down because I was not a citizen?
I was born in Canada but both my parents were born in the USA.
Social Security said I needed a certificate of citizenship.
I went to immigration and tried to get this. It would cost $400 + God worked out that we got that waived. We got help from our Senator who got us pushed up to the front of the line as Immigration is 3 years behind on their case load. It still took over 6 months. We praise the Lord last Monday I got my citizenship paper which says I was a citizen from my birth. That day we went to Social Security and gave them the information. Wednesday we had 6 months Social Security Payment in the bank. How we praise the Lord for His goodness and his wonderful works to the children of men. God is so good!
